The
Willochra Home
Residential
Aged Care Facility is situated in the mid-northern country town of
Crystal Brook which is 200 kilometres from Adelaide.
This area is well known for its country-style of living and is
only 2 hours from Adelaide. The
facility provides both low and high level care, having 28 beds and is
licensed by the Commonwealth Government – the Anglican Diocese of
Willochra being the Approved Provider.
|
|
When
Bishop Jones came to the Diocese in 1958 he found that Bishop Thomas had
planned for a Home for the Aged. The
Synod of 1960 approved the plan and in April 1964 the Home was opened by
the then minister for works Mr Pearson.
The Home cost $42,000.00 of which one third was raised by the
Diocese and the remainder given by the Federal Government.
|
|
Work
began on upgrading the bathroom facilities and 4 more rooms at a cost of
$200,000 in late 1992. The
completed extensions were dedicated by the Right Reverend David McCall,
Bishop of Willochra on 18 April 1993.
|
|
The
addition of 3 rooms in a secure area with landscaped garden,
extensions to the existing dining room and a resident’s kitchen
were blessed by Bishop David McCall on 4 July 1999.
|
|
An
additional 10 rooms, dining and lounge
room, an industrial laundry and major
upgrade to the kitchen at a cost
exceeding 2 million dollars, was completed
in May 2006. |
|
Our
home is currently undergoing renovations once again which plans to
extend by 6 more rooms and a chapel, a new front entrance and office,
and an upgrade to the hairdressing salon, and a bit of cosmetic surgery
in the form of coverings for the brickwork walls. |

changed, encourage each other to change the things that can be changed,
and seek the wisdom to know the difference.
