Sea Sunday was celebrated at 2.30pm on Sunday 15 July, 2007 at the Merchant Seamen’s Memorial  adjacent to the City Council Chamber in Ellen Street, Port Pirie.. Members of Church and Community were invited to attend this service organized by the Mission to Seafarers in the Diocese of Willochra.
The service was led by Bishop Garry Weatherill.
It commemorated and gave thanks for all who have served on the sea, both merchant and naval seafarers in times of peace and war in the past and in the present. A wreath was laid by Captain Wally Skidmore (ex-merchant navy) in the presence of representatives of services, businesses, organizations and associations whose lives are associated with seafaring.
People attending were invited to Afternoon Tea after the service in the Mission to Seafarers’ Hall in Florence Street.
